The idea behind WHATYOUPUTINTHEM® started on a basketball court.
Years ago, I played pickup basketball nearly every evening in Orlando. We weren’t playing in expensive gear. I wore inexpensive Chuck Taylors and played in them until they were worn through—usually every four to six weeks. There were times the holes got big enough that newspaper inside the shoes helped me get a little more life out of them.
Every so often, someone new would show up in the latest shoes and expensive gear. Sometimes they looked like the best player on the court before the game even started.
Then the game started.
What mattered wasn’t the shoes. It was whether you could play. Could you compete? Could you defend, rebound, pass, score, work with your teammates and keep going when the game got tough?
That’s where the idea behind WHATYOUPUTINTHEM® came from.
It’s not the shoes you wear. It’s what you put in them.
Skill. Work. Toughness. Heart.
That’s what we believe. Whatever your game, what you put in matters more than what you put on.
